Portrait

As most of you bloggers know that frequent the site, my interests outside of my professional work primarily seem to revolve around action/fantasy genres, so it's not very often that I get that urge to draw something else. This one is a portrait of my lovely wife, and for the record she says that it doesn't look like her. Sigh. Back to the drawing board.

Joseph! Wow, man. This is a complete surprise. Beautiful! Do you think it looks like her?

Joe--I love to see this side of your art. What a great portrait! I only saw your wife once, and she had sunglasses on, so I can't tell you if this portrait captures her, but it's a beautiful painting in either case. To me, her expression looks exactly like a "Sandra Ho" expression.

AH it's tough drawing the wife, they never seem to think you got it...then your usually in trouble for not being able to capture there look, like you don't love them enough or ' That's how you see me?' *sigh*
Well, great painting irregardless Joe, don't let it stop you from doing more like it, it came out great.

This one does have a calm sensitivity that surpasses many of your other blogged pieces (which have great craftsmanship as well). More!

This portrait has really something special, it's beautiful! I agree with what keith said above... they never seem to recognize themselves on our portraits, it's kind of a rule! But we love them anyway:)

your fantasy work is breathtaking, but this kinda portraiture painting is where your talents truly shine. Do you have any old masters copies layin' around your house? you should scan those in, if ya do!

thanks for the comment!
Jason.
